In a league in which rookies often find it difficult to master just one skill, Joe Flacco needed all of a few weeks to begin putting brilliance on box scores in every way possible. As if his veteran-like poise and rocket arm weren’t already noteworthy enough, Baltimore’s soon-to-be franchise great overwhelmed Oakland’s defense through the full checklist: a 70-yard touchdown sling, a 43-yard catch, and a speedy, around-the-edge 12-yard scoring run. In true do-it-all form, Flacco orchestrated the Ravens’ 29-10 win over the Raiders on Oct. 26, 2008 through a Rookie of the Week-winning performance that included 206 offensive yards, two touchdowns, and highlights in abundance.
