(Jan 30, 1994 · Week 21)
In must-win games — and especially in Super Bowls — the Cowboys often found that it was best not to overthink the situation with the league’s No. 1 player in the backfield. During a dominant, seven-play, 61-carry drive, Emmitt Smith, as the commentators described it, “almost singlehandedly” encouraged the start of Dallas’ second-half domination, barreling through the Bills’ defense for a touchdown, followed soon closely by another. Fired-up, and sporting a determined scowl by the end of it all, Smith helped turn a touchdown deficit into a 30-13 win over Buffalo by game’s end on Jan. 30, 1994. Smith did a clean sweep of the season’s Most Valuable Player awards, starring on Super Bowl XXVIII’s stage through a 34-touch, 158-yard, two-touchdown finish.
