Trailing by double-digits, and challenged by a game that appeared to be quickly getting away, San Francisco found that it paid to have a player with Malik Mustapha’s catch-up speed. Blazing quick in a pursuit that peaked at 18.4 MPH, Mustapha, quite fittingly, hawked down the Seahawks’ quarterback for a 1st & 10 takedown that halted Seattle’s progress. Mustapha’s play became a bright spot in the 41-6 loss on Jan. 17, 2026, and prompted his status as a box score standout. All over the field, Mustapha closed with eight tackles — third-best among 49ers defenders — alongside the sack and QB hit.
