It’s unclear as to if Buffalo’s James Cook heard the weeklong chatter about how elite the Broncos’ sixth-ranked run defense was, but if he did, he had the look of a player absolutely unphased by it. Too difficult to contain from literally the first play, 2025’s NFL rushing champion found a lane and got promptly to work, gashing Denver’s frontline for a speedy, 24-yard counter run. The Bills’ 33-30 loss certainly didn’t go as planned, but Cook looked the part of an elite running back nonetheless, routinely making plays during his 26-touch, 141-yard season finale on Jan. 17, 2026.
