By the conclusion of 2004’s regular-season play, Indianapolis’ superstar quarterback had thrown more touchdowns than any player in NFL history — and whenever he had scoring plays in mind, his eyes often drifted to one player: Marvin Harrison. Settled somewhere among the “Mount Rushmore” of pass-catchers in the 2000s, Harrison’s touchdown tendencies reached their apex on “Turkey Day” in Detroit, as he rattled off three different scoring plays. The touchdown trifecta on Nov. 25, 2004 encouraged the Colts’ 41-9 win over the Lions, and demonstrated Harrison’s many redeemable traits. Mixing in catch-and-run scores and snags through traffic, Harrison turned a 16-target afternoon into a 12-catch, 127-yard finish, key in securing what would become his sixth-straight double-digit touchdown season.
