If you weren’t seated and immediately in front of the television during the opening minute of Nov. 24, 1994’s national NFL broadcast, you might’ve missed Herman Moore’s electrifying, game-opening statement play against the AFC’s defending champions. Wasting no time in illustrating how he became an All-Pro receiver for three straight seasons, Moore played his role in the Lions’ tricky “flea flicker” design by racing downfield for what ultimately became a 51-yard touchdown catch. Moore helped breathe life into Detroit’s home crowd promptly, and such plays eventually proved key in securing a 35-21 win over the Buffalo Bills. By afternoon’s end, Moore starred through a seven-catch, 169-yard, one-touchdown effort.
