Any chance for the Bears to return to their glory days of old seemed to hinge on breakout Year Two seasons from both 2024 No. 1 pick Caleb Williams and his fellow first-round receiver. Both parties hit the ground running during a Week 2 road test against Detroit, as Williams found his soon-to-be-star wideout streaking down the right sidelines for a 37-yard connection in the second quarter. Chicago’s attempts at matching the high-powered Lions fell flat in a 52-21 loss on Sept. 14, 2025, but in setting the groundwork for better performances to come, Williams was solid, tossing for 207 yards (on 19-of-30), alongside two touchdowns and a five-carry, 27-yard boost.
