Unwilling to allow Minnesota’s talented offense to miss a single beat with its Pro Bowl veteran sidelined, Mason reaffirmed his status as a top-of-the-league understudy, overwhelming Cincinnati on a short-yardage touchdown that helped encourage a victory of historic proportions.
