If football’s history has verified anything, it’s that putting Vince Young in head-to-heads against his fellow 2006 NFL Draft classmate and Trojan counterpart brings out his absolute best in must-have situations. Playing out “the scenario” that aspiring quarterbacks practice in backyards worldwide — needing a last-minute, 99-yard touchdown drive — Tennessee’s fourth-year star illustrated veteran-like command, converting three different fourth downs. Among the drive’s itinerary were: short, chain-moving dots, slightly-lucky middle-of-the-field tipped passes, well-thought-out connections that routinely allowed the Titans to stop the clock, and ultimately, a back-of-the-endzone dime through traffic on 4th & 10, leaving just six seconds. Unwavering throughout, Young, giving Arizona flashbacks of Super Bowl XLIII, and himself memories of 2006’s Rose Bowl, overwhelmed the Cardinals with 387 yards (on 27-of-43 passing) and a touchdown, securing the Titans' 20-17 win on Nov. 29, 2009.
