In a perfect world, teams hope to avoid the suspenseful unpredictability of overtime altogether, but for teams that find themselves there, the goal is to either score a touchdown, or drain as much clock as possible. Offering the picture-perfect example during Washington's Week 17’s 12-play, 70-yard drive, Jayden Daniels got the ball rolling, starting with a play-action scramble, followed by the first of numerous connections with Zach Ertz. Led by the 2024 Rookie of the Year, Washington finally found itself in the red zone, ready to strike, which they did with Daniels hitting Ertz for a two-yard touchdown, a walk-off score that stamped both the Commanders’ 30-24 win, and a postseason berth, on Dec. 29, 2024.
