In this high-profile Week 16 NFC East matchup between the Commanders and Eagles, Philly struck first, but it was Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels who would have the last laugh. Putting the finishing touches on one of the most incredible rookie seasons in recent memory, Daniels and the Commanders trailed by five with just seconds left on the clock, when he dropped back to pass and fired a laser over the middle to his receiver in the back of the end zone, who hauled it in for the game-winning score, sending the Washington faithful into a frenzy. With that score, Daniels finished the day with 258 yards and five touchdowns through the air, adding another 81 yards on the ground with his legs, as the Commanders beat the Eagles, 36-33, on Dec. 22, 2024, to improve their playoff positioning with two weeks to go. Daniels would go on to finish his rookie season with an incredible stat line that included 3568 passing yards and 25 touchdowns through the air, contributing another 891 yards and six touchdowns with his legs, which was enough to earn him Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
