(Dec 29, 1991 · Week 18)
Given his status as the No. 1 finisher in passing yards in both 1990 and 1991, it perhaps only made sense for Warren Moon’s high-octane offense to strike first during Houston’s Wild Card clash against the Jets. Orchestrating the Oilers’ “Run and Shoot” attack flawlessly on Dec. 29, 1991, Moon overwhelmed New York with a series of opening-half scores, the first arriving during an eight-minute drive that concluded with an in-traffic five-yard hookup. Returning one quarter later, the future Hall of Famer turned his teammate’s post route into a 20-yard score, gifting Houston a lead it wouldn’t again surrender. Such plays helped guide Houston’s 17-10 win, with Moon finishing 28-of-40 for 271 yards and two touchdowns.
