To be labeled an elite, top-of-the-league running back in today’s NFL, it’s almost a borderline requirement for the player in question to be prolific in both the ground game and through the air. Rare in providing the blueprint long before it became the norm, Philadelphia’s Brian Westbrook settled into open space during a RB screen, ultimately allowing an army of blockers to guide his path for an evasive 71-yard catch-and-run touchdown. As Minnesota focused on containing the Eagles’ running game, Westbrook’s versatility became a driving force in the 26-14 win on Jan. 4, 2009, as the two-time Pro Bowler overwhelmed the Vikings for 121 yards and a touchdown on 23 touches.
