Over the course of his remarkable rookie campaign, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has made a lot of sensational throws, but this one is certainly up near the top of that list, especially given the context of the play. After a scoring onslaught from both sides resulted in five touchdowns going on the board over the course of seven minutes of game time, Daniels decided to try to keep the explosive pace going, dropping back and heaving a rocket down the field from a slightly off-balance position on second-and-eight. The ball could not have been placed any more perfectly, dropping right into the arms of his intended receiver for a gain of 38 yards, setting up the Commanders with a goal-to-go situation from the seven-yard line. Two plays later, they found the end zone again, extending their first half lead to 10 points. Daniels went on to throw for 299 yards and two touchdowns in this one, adding 51 yards on the ground, as he led the Commanders to a surprise upset over the #1 seed Lions, 45-31, on Jan. 18, 2025, to book Washington's trip to their first NFC Championship Game in over three decades.
