For even the world’s most confident defense, stopping the NFL's fifth-ranked offense on four different occasions from the one-yard line is as hefty a task as any. Standing at 6-foot, 280 pounds, and thus built for the challenge, Calijah Kancey stepped to it forcefully, powering through the A-gap, becoming the first of many red-jerseyed Buccaneers defenders intent on capturing Washington’s talented running back. Kancey’s play was among a few that helped Tampa Bay execute a brilliant, lead-preserving goal line stand in the early fourth quarter. The Buccaneers would fall in a 23-20 loss on Jan. 12, 2025, but Kancey deposited one tackle, helping bottle the Commanders’ run game throughout the night.
