Taking command of the afternoon’s first footnote during a highly-anticipated battle between a pair of similarly-gifted Heisman-winning quarterbacks, Mike Sainristil extended his arms and created a play worthy of his own proverbial trophy case. Benefitting from both Washington’s ferocious five-man rush and a subsequently-rushed, off-target throw, Sainristil, showcasing awareness, eyeballs a pass that ricochets off of the hands of Baltimore’s receiver, ultimately collecting an interception against the NFL’s two-time Most Valuable Player. Sainristil’s interception, and the evasive return that followed, helped the Commanders generate a momentum-building takeaway on the game’s first drive. The more experienced, battle-tested Ravens would prevail in a 30-23 win on Oct. 13, 2024; nonetheless, the rookie defensive back was productive, logging six tackles (four solo) and his career’s first-ever interception (for 38 yards).
