Fresh off a season in which he was names 1st-Team All-Pro, Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie continued his strong run of postseason play in Super Bowl LVIII with three massive standout plays. First, on a critical third down play, McDuffie stuck with a star receiver down the field, and leaped up to knock away the pass, preventing a certain touchdown that would have shifted the momentum squarely onto the San Francisco sideline early in the second quarter. Later on, in the third quarter, McDuffie made another crucial pass deflection on third down, essentially running the route with the opposing receiver before lunging to knock the ball away. Finally, late in the fourth quarter, McDuffie once again made a crucial third down play, coming in on a blitz and leaping up to bat the pass out of the air to force a critical incompletion that kept the Chiefs' hopes alive. All told, McDuffie's three critical pass defenses were part of an all-around performance that also saw him add three tackles and two quarterback hits while playing great coverage on the 49ers' best receivers. In the end, McDuffie's efforts were a big part of the Chiefs' 25-22 come-from-behind win in overtime over San Francisco in this unforgettable game on Feb. 11, 2024, that saw Kansas City win their third title in five years.
