27 - 23
(Feb 1, 2009 · Week 21)
The opposing Cardinals were on the doorstep of the end zone, threatening to take the lead from the Steelers just seconds before halftime in XLIII, but 2008 Defensive Player of the Year James Harrison continued his standout season by making one of the most remarkable defensive plays in Super Bowl history. Arizona elected to throw the ball from the one-yard line, but Harrison jumped in front of the intended receiver to pick the pass off at the goal line, and then took off running, following his blockers down the field and shrugging off several would-be tacklers before tumbling into the end zone for an incredible 100-yard score, the longest scoring play in Super Bowl history to that point. Harrison also added four tackles and two quarterback hits in this one, as Pittsburgh went on to win the title with a 27-23 win on Feb. 1, 2009.
